The City of Clermont, which occupies 14.44 square miles, was founded in 1884 and incorporated in 1916. Clermont is located in south Lake County, approximately 22 miles west of Orlando and 22 miles southeast of Leesburg. Clermont is conveniently accessible to Orlando via Florida Highway 50.

Clermont is essentially residential in character and its economy is primarily centered in retail trade as well as lodging and food and beverage establishments, which are tourism oriented. The current population for Clermont is 24,632.
